Come celebrate the artist coop in Mexico
The Colectivo San Pancho is an independent group of locals and
international artists who live in San Francisco, Nayarit or have a close
relationship with the town.
The Colectivo San
Pancho was born in 2006 when a group of artist decided to form a collective,
to get together with the idea of showing their work to each other and visitors.
All the community participated in the creation of the three days “SinergiArte
art festival” that featured: painting, music, dance, photography, jewelry,
gastronomy, workshops, huichol art, social organizations and tradition.
Headed by Ariel
Sainz and Kristal Garcia, Colectivo San Pancho 2006 not only completed
the challenge, the Colectivo has sparked a movement – leaving many
participants and the public audience wanting to experience more of the
incredible
artistic creations.
The creative movement is dedicated to restore, revive and rejuvenate the San
Pancho community through the encouragement of artistic expression and social
responsibility.
Achievements
-
Over
40 artists
(painters, jewelers, photographers, sculptures, illustrators, hand-craft
artisans, performance artists) participated in all aspects of the creating
and presenting the festival.

Over the 3-night
festival, an estimated audience of over 1000 (young and old, local and
foreign, residents and visitors) attended the event

Event initiated
a bridging of cultural gaps and nurturing a culture of support and optimism

And, by
transforming “life in the plaza”, the festival offers an alternative to the
usual concept of street and night life for San Pancho youth and families.
Vision
Bring together the community and visitors thru art, culture and traditions. Open
up a space for artist and craftsmen and the community in general to put their
experiences, ideas and ways to look at the world thru different artistic media.
Showing art as an alternative of personal and community development.
Art to think, to know
Art as entertainment
Straightening culture and traditions between communities of the region thru the
exchange of information and coexistence fostering new ways of communication.
Offering to national and international tourist a different alternative of
entertainment, showing regional culture and traditions as a symbol of
identity.
Promote San Pancho as the “Cultural Capital” of the state of Nayarit for its
great artistic contribution and generator of new talents.

Colectivo San Pancho
El Colectivo San Pancho es un
grupo independiente conformado por artistas y artesanos nacionales y extranjeros
que viven en San Pancho o que tienen una relación directa con la comunidad y el
pueblo.
Objetivos
Integrar a la comunidad y a
sus visitantes a través del fomento del arte, la cultura y las tradiciones.
Abriendo un espacio de expresión para artistas, artesanos y la comunidad en
general para plasmar sus experiencias, ideas y formas de ver el mundo a través
de distintos medios artísticos.
Presentar el arte como una
alternativa de desarrollo personal y comunitario, como punto de partida para la
reflexión, el conocimiento así como espectáculo para la diversión y el
entretenimiento.
Fortalecer los lazos
culturales y las tradiciones entre la comunidad y los pueblos vecinos de la
región a través del intercambio de información y de la convivencia, propiciando
nuevas formas de comunicación.
Ofrecer al turismo regional,
nacional e internacional una alternativa diferente de entretenimiento, una
opción recreativa para mostrar la cultura regional y del estado como símbolo de
identidad
Visión
Promover el arte y la cultura
como parte integral de la formación y educación en la vida de los individuos y
la comunidad. Proponiendo a San Pancho como la “Capital Cultural” del estado de
Nayarit por su gran aportación artística y generadora de nuevos talentos.
LOCAL ART COLLECTIVE (colectivo san
pancho) is preparing for December Art/Cultural Events in San
Pancho's Plaza del Sol. THEY ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS INTERESTED
IN SHARING CREATIVITY OR PARTICIPATING IN ORGANIZING THESE IMPORTANT
LOCAL TOWN EVENTS. No experience or skill level necessary. This is a
great way to meet new friends interested in art and culture,
practice your spanish (or not!..its not a requirement!) and to join
this important cultural movement in San Pancho.

Carton/Cardboard Circus
Show
This is a circus/cabaret style production using characters
and props made with cardboard (including stilts, live music, dance,
etc). The show's central theme will be to promote environmental
consciousness and sensibility in a fun, playful and imaginative way.
The Colectivo San Pancho (local art collective) will offer the show
to five other towns in free performances in plazas, schools and
public spaces (like lo de marcos, las lomas, san ignacio, sayulita
and san pancho).
NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR:
Help with making
props/costumes made with paper mache (weekly workshops at Bodega 3,
next to Bodega EntreAmigos, Tuesdays/Thursdays/Saturdays)
Sewing
machines and people to help sew costumes
Organizing logistics for
rehearsals and performances
ANYONE who is willing to lend a hand
and meet local artists/community organizers....(any amount of time,
level of experience and interest is welcome)
Art Festival
in December
This year will be the 4th Annual ArtCultural Festival
(SINERGIARTE), organized by the local Colectivo San Pancho. The
event will bring together aritsts/performers/local businesses and
organizations in a three-day long festival on the Plaza del Sol.
Local, national and international artists converge to share the
stage, exhibit spaces and public installations.

Assist in Lighting / Set up /
Technical Details
Invitation is open to all levels of
commitment and-or experience...These local cultural events are
possible thanks to the volunteer spirit and dedication of many
people (artists, organizers, local residents and visitors) who make
up Colectivo San Pancho and their friends.
